Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path To Higher Creativity, first published 25 years ago and used successfully by many thousands of readers and workshop participants since that time, is a twelve week self study course in reawakening to one’s highest creative potential, regardless of vocation. By meeting as a group once a week through the entire 12 weeks’ duration of the course, we encourage and uplift one another, holding one another accountable in doing the mind and heart opening work of completing each week’s assignments. We gather in mutual support to discover, challenge and joyfully do away with any blocks we may have to living a fully engaged, creative life. Fasten your seat belts and get ready to transform and amaze yourself! The course is for persons of all ages, occupations, and spiritual traditions. One should have a copy of the book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron in order to complete the weekly readings and assignments before each meeting and also a marble composition book or other inexpensive personal journal for the writing exercises. We will keep an extra copy of the book on site and will begin Week 1 after our first meeting.
Facilitator: Deborah “Gaya” Milling, M.D. is a native of Charleston, SC and a physician who has practiced the art and science of medicine for the past 30 years. She has a private psychotherapy practice in Mount Pleasant, here since 2001, with therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs. Dream analysis, lifestyle coaching, referral for yoga or bodywork, introduction to mindfulness practices and breath work, and honoring of each client’s unique spiritual journey through creative endeavor are incorporated with more conventional Western allopathic methods.
